Endless Adventures, Unforgettable Moments

The Sea of Cortez: A Sportfishing Paradise

Just steps from Rancho de Costa, the Sea of Cortez—often called The World’s Aquarium—offers some of the most rewarding fishing in the Western Hemisphere. Its calm, nutrient-rich waters draw a wide variety of game fish, making it ideal for both seasoned anglers and first-timers.

Catch marlin, mahi-mahi, yellowfin tuna, snapper, roosterfish, wahoo, and more—depending on the season. Whether you’re after a trophy fish or dinner on the grill, expert captains and fully equipped charters are ready to take you out. The only thing left to do is cast your line.

Fresh from the Ocean to Your Plate

At Rancho de Costa, dining is part of the day’s adventure. After a trip on the Sea of Cortez, bring back your fresh catch and let our team take it from there. You Hook ’Em, We Cook ’Em—grilled, seared, sashimi-style, or however you like it.

For group gatherings, enjoy our signature whole-roasted pig, served Baja-style as carnitas tacos with handmade tortillas, house salsas, and icy margaritas. It’s a true Baja feast, perfect for weddings, reunions, or any night worth celebrating.

We are home now and had an AMAZING time!  Thank you and Ramon and his team again and again!  Everything was fantastic!!  Already trying to figure out how we can come back!  LOL

Thank you again!

"When we think about the great vacations we've had the one at Rancho de Costa is at the top of the list. You can't beat the beautiful view of the bay, the relaxing atmosphere, the wonderful people and the sense of rest and peace. You can do so much, or nothing. The fishing's great, snorkeling, hiking and just relaxing on the beach. With the addition of the cook we had the most marvelous time. Fresh fish tacos, margaritas and cold beer. It couldn't get any better. The only difficult part was leaving."

I have been to Rancho de Costa numerous times since my first visit in 2004. Each time I go, I find myself enjoying it more and more. Rancho is a rare opportunity to experience Mexico for its natural beauty in a truly private setting. I love going to sleep and waking up to the sound of waves gently breaking on the beach which is literally right outside your window. The sunrise at Rancho is strikingly beautiful and motivates me to wake up early every morning I’m there…which is helpful when getting an early start to fishing.

Sport  fishing is the one of the main reasons Americans come down to this part  of Mexico.  If you were to stay in Cabo, it would take at least two  hours of traveling up the coastline  by boat to get to one of the best fishing spots on the Sea of Cortez.   For us at Rancho, it’s a 10-minute Panga ride before the fish start  biting. I’ve had some incredible fishing experiences here that I’ve  never been able to replicate anywhere else (including  an epic, 150 lb marlin catch).

The  staff at Rancho de Costa are very friendly and take pride in hosting  their guests. Johnny does an outstanding job cooking the meals and will  prepare whatever fish you catch  that day.  I have had Marlin, Wahoo, Dorado, Pargo, Yellow Fin Tuna,  and Sea Bass prepared many different ways and they all taste incredible.  Manny (Johnny’s dad) always has a smile on his face.  He does a great  job as a fishing boat captain.  He’s been hunting  the Mexican waters for at least 60 years and knows every inch. It’s  hard not to feel like you’ve made a lifelong friend when you spend the  day fishing with him.

If  fishing isn’t your bag, then maybe lounging around the poolside is.  The  Palapa at Rancho is one of the biggest I’ve ever seen and is  beautifully constructed.  It does an amazing  job of keeping you cool even on the hottest days. It’s hard not to take  a siesta on one of the lounge chairs there when a cool ocean breeze  happens to wander in from the east.

The  golf course surrounding Rancho was designed and built by Tom Doak (of  Pacific Dunes fame in Oregon).  I had the pleasure of playing there many  years ago and found it to be comparable  if not better than Palmilla and Cabo del Sol (especially the 15th hole -  right on the shore). I’m looking forward to playing there again  someday.

Rancho  de Costa is one of my favorite spots in the world.  I travel for a  living and have been to some incredible places, this is by far one of  the best. You will absolutely love  it!

Gene; Jill Renuart, Washington DC and Colorado Springs, Colorado

"Wow! What a relaxing getaway and an absolutely beautiful development! Nestled in a quiet cove with spectacular vistas, Rancho de Costa was the perfect destination for us. The fishing, snorkeling, and kayaking were wonderful, the golf course was gorgeous, and the food and service was five star. All this and world class sunrises every day! A bit of paradise..."

Hi, Gary!

I  was beyond blessed this past summer when my husband and I, along with 6  other adults from our church were able to vacation at your resort, El  Rancho.  We won the bid at the Strong Rock auction  (actually we got the “preacher” to bid and then all the other serious  contenders backed off!)and then set the dates for the week that our kids  were attending a youth conference.

Personally,  I consider that trip a once in a lifetime experience, and I will always  fondly recall our days there.  Johnny and Manny were great hosts.  The  food was delicious and the boat ride  around the coast was beautiful.  Such a different part of the world.   So different from the Caribbean or east coast.  I still get Facebook  updates from Johnny and his updates make me want to make a return trip!   The resort is beautiful, yet very comfortable.   Definitely, that one in a lifetime trip…  A HUGE blessing!

I appreciate your generosity and just wanted to communicate with you how blessed we were.

Thanks for what you do for SRCS and what you did personally for us this summer…

Bless you!

Beth Thiebault

"Great experience all around - property, activities, service, wea"

The villa  was beautiful, we had 9 people and we all had plenty of space both  inside and out. The decor in the villa was very nice, although the  kitchen could use more (limited storage/Tupperware,  steak knives). The view of the ocean was fantastic, we saw no less than  30 whales from our pool deck and every day the weather was perfect. We  also always felt safe, never thought twice about our safety. We utilized  the chef services once and wish we would  have used them more, the food and service was fantastic and it really  was a great value when you compare to going out to dinner. The  housekeeping services were thorough and the villa support (Fernando) was  very responsive and helpful, he helped coordinate  many of our outdoor activities, reservations, and taxi's. One surprise -  many places didn't accept credit cards so we needed more cash than we  thought, and the taxi rides add up so be prepared. We would definitely  return!

Rancho De  Costa, is truly one of the finest vacation destinations anyone could  want. Starting with coffee and enjoying unforgettable sunrises, to clear  nights of unimaginable star gazing, This  place has it all! The peaceful waters of Bahia Los Suenos, make it  perfect for diving and swimming for all ages. The view from the pool is  breathtaking and relaxing with a margarita lets you know life doesn’t  get much better. The activities are endless and  being an avid fisherman, makes this place so awesome. You can choose to  fish offshore for large gamefish or fish inshore with light tackle,  literally within minutes of the resort. The food is out of this world  and made to order with whatever you want. The  service you receive from the staff is 5 star for sure! All the comforts  of home are available including Wi Fi, Satellite TV. I have been taking  my entire family here for over 20 years and each time we look forward  to coming back every year with more anticipation  than the time before. I give this resort 2 thumbs up and in fact make  it 4 thumbs up! If you get lucky and get the chance to meet El Jefe aka “  Goyo”, you are in for a treat in itself!

We stayed at Villa Langosta and Villa Marlin recently. It was amazing! Unbelievable setting with incredible views, great accommodations, and wonderful staff. The Chefs prepared authentic dishes and were very professional. The housekeepers did a great job as well. I would recommend this resort to all my friends and family.

Thanks so much for your  gracious hospitality last week. What a wonderful, rejuvenating  experience that was. You're truly fortunate to own a piece of heaven on  earth. It was so smart of you to see that opportunity so long ago. And  your hard work paid off. Thanks for sharing it all with our 'old  friends' college group.

Since landing back in the USA, I've had my hands full. My 96-year-old  Mom got Covid during my trip. (That's what the phone calls were about  during dinner.) She's fine, but for the next few days I'm devoting time  to her and to my house which had a little damage from a storm.  Then--when my mind is clear enough to do it justice--I'd like to write a  review to send you. But I didn't want any more time to lapse without  saying a great big...

Gary, just wanted you to know how much of eight of group from California and Colorado enjoyed our stay at your resort, Rancho De Costa.  The resort was outstanding with 3 very good meals per day,  relaxing under the thatched  Palapa looking out on the Sea of Cortez, to  swimming in the large pool, and retreating to our beautiful rooms for a  good night's sleep.  The staff were very friendly and helpful with all  our needs...I especially enjoyed you getting us with the best fishing  excursions....I caught 4 Dorado fish weighing about 20 pounds each, and  one Rooster fish that weighed about 22 pounds...The chef prepared the  Dorados  for us and were delicious.. One of the most outstanding events  was to see the sunrise on the Sea of Cortez about 6:30 in the morning..  All of us have agreed to return to your wonderful resort....

Karol

Rancho de Costa  is paradise! My family of 30+ spent our annual Family Christmas  Vacation here. Everything was excellent: the property, the gorgeous  views, the spacious rooms, the abundance  of activities right out the door, the delicious food, and the wonderful  staff!! Our age group was 6 months to 68!! Everyone had a blast and we  are planning our next vacation at Rancho!!! (in fifteen years we had  never returned to the same place) Rancho is  Paradise!!

David McNicholas

Gary,

Our  stay at your place was utterly amazing. It’s a great piece of  tranquility combined with what I would call Real Mexico. The privacy is  unmatched with the house and the beach. It’s a piece of the old world  Mexico.

The service from the  staff was tremendously friendly, and the food they cooked for us was  DELICIOUS from the steak and lobster to the carnitas. They also went out  of their way to make our drinks.

If  anyone wants a peaceful beautiful getaway, this is it!  The house has  all kinds of room to hold a lot of people, and it was great that you  actually put in a private movie theatre.

Thank you for everything. We made memories to last a lifetime at your place!

Jerry Smith

Thank you so much for the  excellent accommodations and most of all the wonderful service &  attitudes exhibited by all of your staff at Ranch de Costa. The  professionalism of your operations is a breath of fresh air in today’s  world. It is very evident that everyone there is very loyal to you and  that you have been equally loyal to them. Good mentors are hard to find  these days, keep up the good work !

San Diego

We have stayed  at Villa Marlin 4 times. It is like a paradise. The property is perfect  for 5-6 families. The staff is really like family. Every time we come  back we all hug. The staff cooks  and cleans which makes the vacation so relaxing. All you need to do is  have fun and get immersed In the natural beauty of the property.

Our  kids ages  8-17 absolutely love the place. They fish in the rocks on the point,  swim in the pool, play wiffleball, snorkel and watch movies in the  theater. We are a big fishing family. My husband and son go out several  mornings on the local pangas and bring back fish  that the cooks make into yummy goodness. Villa Marlin is one of my  favorite vacations. This year will be our 5th time and I can’t wait!!!!!

June, 2019

While  on one of my many trips down to Baja, it timed right for me to meet  Gary while he was at Ranch de Costa.  We had spoke before, but never had  met in person. After driving North and arriving  at Rancho, I had no idea of this little slice of paradise. The word  Special does not begin to describe Ranch de Costa.  From its Beautiful  Beaches, the awesome pool, the Staff, the Rooms, and the Incredible  View. We were treated like family and ate like King’s  while we were there. We had not planned on it, but stayed the night and  had a great day of fishing before we headed down to Cabo. I feel truly  blessed to have had this experience.

Rancho de Costa Review

We  have just returned from a six-day vacation at the Villas of Rancho de  Costa. All I can say is WOW! There were eight of us ranging from 52 to  90 years of age and we all had a great time.  The accommodations were great with individual suites, the food was  superb ranging from spit cooked BBQ pig, fresh lobster, steak, fresh  fish that we caught, and outstanding Mexican cuisine The whole scenario  is wonderful. Beautiful beach, some of the worlds  best fishing and snorkeling at your front door, gym and tennis court,  but most of all a great place to relax with your friends. Even though we  were seniors there was plenty for the whole family to do. We are  looking forward to visiting Rancho de Costa next  year.

Steve C.

I just returned from five days of what can only be described as paradise. I've never been to Rancho de Costa before so I had no idea what to expect. The facilities were awesome. My suite has a private patio that faces the bay with a great view of the fabulous sunrises. I enjoyed the huge walk-in shower each morning. The exercise room (next to the tennis court) has about every kind of equipment you could need as well as a complete line of free weights. The pool is always ready for a dip. I can't say enough about the staff. The never hovered but always seemed to be available when you needed them. The meals were incredible and well presented.

"Perfect!"

The  tranquility, peace, roll of the ocean...all was just perfect! The  location is isolated and exactly what we wanted. The house was  comfortable and we felt at home. The staff couldn't have been more  accommodating and efficient. The Villa has 4 bedrooms each with their  own bath that accommodate a variety of family arrangements (we used the  space--2 couples, a boys room for 3, and a girls'  room with 4). The porch is where we spent most of our time as the kids  would snorkel out back and the girls could hang out in the whirlpool.  This is remote, we saw deer, rabbits, scorpions...it is the dessert--so  be prepared! 😉 The beach is wonderful! A combination  of rocky and coral to one side and pristine sand to the  other...fantastic! The stars are clear and undisturbed by city lights. I  hate to give an excellent review, as I want this all for myself! We  can't wait to go back!

Kevin; Cheri Snyder

The first time we saw Bahia de Los Suenos, we fell instantly in love. We didn’t know we would also fall in love with Rancho de Costa. The layout of the property allows us to accommodate several groups of family members and friends at the same time. We had eighteen on our trip there last spring. The large palapa is the favorite gathering place for meals, visiting and games. The pool is pristine with unmatched views of the deep blue waters of the Sea of Cortez and the white sand beach is only steps away. If you are an early riser, the sunrises are every bit as spectacular as any sunset we have seen. The staff is friendly, professional and works very hard to meet your every need. Rancho de Costa is our family’s Five Star Resort.

Brent Gaddis

What  an awesome place!  Rancho de Costa is the perfect spot for large groups  of friends or family who want to be on the beach.  Everything from the  rooms to the food was top notch.  The staff made us feel at home as they  always do and attended to our every request.  Our group of 20 has been  to Rancho de Costa 5 different times now and we always leave happy and  relaxed.  The pool and palapa area is very large and easily  accommodates large groups of people for eating or just hanging out  during the day.  There are plenty of options for fishing including  pangas who can take 2 or 3 people out for half a day or you can charter a  larger yacht out of La Paz or Cabo and take a larger group.  The  fishing in the area is world class and I highly recommend going if you  like to fish.  There is a movie theater, gym and tennis court on the  property which are nice options in addition to all of the water-based  activities.  Rancho de Costa is a hidden gem that sits on a very remote  beach.  You won't find crowds at Rancho - only tranquility and good  times.  I highly recommend this place for your next family getaway.

Kevin King

"Ultimate vacation destination"

Villa  alegria surpassed every and all expectations that we had. Upon arrival  we were thrilled of how nice and spacious the Villa is once you see it  in person. Attention to every detail of the  staff was obvious and the architecture is phenomenal. Our group was a  pack of 12 bros and each one of us had the vacation of a life time. Our  personal concierge, Victor, made everything extremely accessible and  every arrangement we made was anything but difficult.  Downtown and the beach are just a short cab away and we were able to  ride together in one van each time. Safety was no issue whatsoever  throughout the duration of this trip. Villa alegria can be a great place  for any group being that the exterior bedrooms  provide an easy getaway for rest and relaxation. The pool and hot tub  was the most popular area along with the comfortable couches that can  double as beds. The maid and grounds crew were outstanding throughout  the trip and helped make it a true vacation. I  would advise visiting Costco on the way in to stock up on groceries and  booze (they also sell liquor). Thanks to Nik at Earth, Sea, and Sky  because he definitely hooked us up with a great villa in Cabo San Lucas,  Mexico.

Judy Hillegeist

Jerome's review  of 1/8/15 is absolutely spot on and very detailed so I won't repeat  what he said except to say I agree with everything. We were a party of  about  30 (ranging in age from 1 year to 60+) and we came for our son's  wedding. I was a bit concerned driving from Cabo-we engaged a shuttle  service for the 2+ hour drive- because it seemed we were going to the  ends of the earth it was so remote. But it was a pretty  drive and once there, you will be amazed that this place exists. No, it  is not the Ritz Carlton, but the views are gorgeous and pristine and  the sleeping accommodations were more than satisfactory. Unless you are a  traveler that requires "white glove treatment"  and the razzle dazzle of a 5 Star Fodor designation, Rancho De Costa  will meet your every need and impress you. The staff made everything  seamless for the ceremony and the food! Oh! The food! Our entire party  raved about every meal- presentation and taste.  The "on call" bartender (she was delightful) made wonderful drinks. The  chefs were always accommodating and the staff kept the grounds in tip  top shape. Our group rented Four Wheelers, snorkeled, picked up coral,  swam, had massages, danced...everything except  fish because of some high winds. If you need a vacation that includes  shopping this might not be the place for you because of its remoteness,  but other than that I cannot praise Rancho De Costa enough. It is  perfect for reunions, weddings, large gatherings,  etc.

Lizzie & Adam

The house was fantastic and everyone was blown away. All of our guests commented on how wonderful the staff at Costa was. Thank you so much!

If you are seeking paradise, then look no further than Rancho de Costa and the Bahia de los Sueños!  It is truly a magical place - from the stunning sunrises, turquoise waters, and lovely accommodations just steps from the Sea of Cortez.  The rooms are spacious and comfortable with ocean views, A/C, comfortable beds, and lovely bathrooms.  The central palapa is such a fantastic gathering space for meals, game night, and a cozy and shaded place to relax during the day.  The staff is just fantastic!  They are so friendly and willing to accommodate special dietary needs.  Plus the food is fresh and delicious.  This was my 4th time leading a yoga retreat at Rancho de Costa and once again I received rave reviews on all accounts - rooms, food, location, and the amazing staff!.  I will definitely be back time and time again!

Gerald “Jerry” Clark

Dear friends from Rancho, I finally decided to get my passport renewed so I can return to the best place on earth, Rancho de Costa!!! I can’t wait to get down there again. Having taken several trips to Rancho I can tell those interested that this place will not disappoint.

It’s the only place I’ve been to that I can’t exaggerate its beauty, seclusion, ambience, and quality of care from the staff! My passport can’t get here quick enough!!!

Kass Harstad

Rancho  de Costa is a Big Slice of Heaven. Johnny and crew take great care of  you -- the food was incredible (ask for shrimp and seafood one night -  it is top notch), the drinks were great, and  they organized everything you could possibly want and need. Our rooms  were cleaned every day, and we had clean beach towels placed out every  morning. They even supplied cold aloe vera for our burned kids!

The  villas and grounds are incredible. We had all ten rooms -- each room is  large and nicely appointed with its own nice bathroom, and 8 of the 10  rooms have patios that open onto the ocean. But  it's the outdoors that really make it. We spent many hours hanging out  under the huge palapa and by the pool and hot tub, and many other hours  hanging down by the beach. The pool and hot tub have tons of comfortable  chaise lounges (many of which overlook the  beautiful beach), the palapa has several tables and couches (we had 27  people, and there was plenty of room for us to all eat), and the beach  has chaise lounges, umbrellas and kayaks! The beach itself is one of the  best I've been to -- it's largely deserted,  it's a mile-long sandy beach, and there is incredible snorkeling along  the reef that hugs the shore in front of both villas (Villa Langosta and  Villa Marlin).

It's  hard to find a place that is so relaxing and so active, all at the same  time. There are so many things to do -- in five days, we walked on the  beach, snorkeled in front of our house, took  a trip to snorkel with whale sharks, went deep sea fishing, went fly  fishing, went for beautiful coastal hikes with wonderful views, went on a  whale watching trip (where we saw whales, sea lions and tons of mobula  rays jumping and splashing), went kayaking,  visited La Paz, and still had time to spend hours just sitting around  by the pool and on the beach. Seriously, this place is one of a kind and  it's legit paradise. I am already planning my next trip there.

Robert Boyd Limon, Colorado

For all of you considering a visit to Rancho de Costa, if you don’t like sunny weather, great fishing, beautiful beaches and the greatest sunrises on the planet, this might not be the place for you. The accommodation are clean and beautiful, the food is great and the staff is friendly and helpful, their aim is to please you and to attend to your needs. I highly recommend Rancho de Costa, it’s a great place!!!

Clifford Ray

I have been to Rancho de Costa several times and i have never been Happier it is So Beautiful and the staff and service is outstanding a wonderful place for the entire family or a Business Retreat just awesome

When visiting somewhere new you want an experience that will intrigue you to make a return, and rancho de costa did just that! I have personally made a return because it was an amazing experience with breathtaking views and relaxation like any other. The service was amazing and it was and all around amazing time when wanting to skip away from the hustle and bustle of the world. If you are searching for a place to relax and enjoy yourself while having zero worries, check this place out! You won’t regret it!!

Words can not describe how absolutely FABULOUS our experience was at Villa Algeria. Our family of 10 wanted to get away, and that's exactly what we did. The drive from Cabo was a bit longer than we anticipated, but once we finally arrived, it was PARADISE. The rooms were perfect, with the most amazing beds, the cooler was always stocked with beer and water, the chef, Johnny, was INCREDIBLE. Every meal was better than the last. I will forever dream of this perfect family getaway and hope to return someday.

Thank you for a great time and a great wedding!!

Chuck, Peggy Chandler

I wanted to send you a note to tell you how much we enjoyed our stay at Rancho de Costa, from the facial and massage under the palapa overlooking the Bay, to the spectacular fishing out our front door. We could not have asked for a more spectacular stay and we are looking forward to our return.

Chris Balch, Denver, Colorado

Rancho de Costa is simply a delight. Whether it's the incredible fishing (on the beach or by boat), simply soaking up the sun at the pool or on the white sand beach nestled in your backyard, playing golf at an internationally premiere course and/or indulging in world-class meals prepared by the Rancho Chef, Rancho is one of the best resorts I have ever visited. The options of how to spend your day(s) are endless and all while in the comfort of your own private resort without the noise and hustle and bustle of customary resorts.

The large rooms, premiere service and amenities (including the work out center, tennis courts and private movie theatre) are simply top notch. Whether it's a family reunion, corporate retreat, wedding or simply a nice getaway with my father (like my first trip to Rancho), Rancho de Costa is a wonderful and luxurious haven I would recommend to anyone.

Gina Seau, La Jolla, California

The week my children and I spent at Rancho de Costa was truly a memorable experience. What a peaceful, relaxing place to spend quality time with family and/or friends. We loved all the fishing, playing in the warm, beautiful water and completely surrendering to a lifestyle of what a true vacation should be. We have many cherished memories, and can't wait to go back!

Darryl deGroot

We absolutely loved your team!  What great people Enrique, Ramon and Isabel are. The food was amazing! Enrique is an excellent chef…. As you said, “Leave it to the chef, he never disappoints.” I am leaving 5 pounds heavier and I love it!  Anything we needed Ramon was ready. He helped with the fishing, the drinks, the transportation.  He had the boat captain come back so my wife could take a picture with him and the fish we caught.  Anything and everything….And always with a smile. And Isabel was always there, keeping the place looking great and making sure our rooms were perfect….. And always smiling. Yes, the property is amazing, but your staff made it an unforgettable experience.

We leave Rancho de Costa wishing we didn’t have to go, but knowing we will return.  It was beyond anything we could have imagined.  Thank you for understanding our situation and for your offer on our return trip. We have one couple that needs to confirm the dates but the other three couple want to book for the week of Dec 7-15 in 2024.

Can’t wait to come back!

Rancho de Costa within the Bahia De Los Suenos Resort is one of the most magical places on earth. The peace and serenity that I feel when I am down at "the bay" is something that you can rarely find these days. The sunrises are worth getting up for even after a night of a few too many margaritas, I try to never miss one if I can help it. If you are lucky enough to be at "the bay" for a full Moon you are in for a real treat. Rancho de Costa is situated on 25 acres of the most prime piece of property in the development in my opinion. Rancho sits out on the southern point of the mile long white sand beach with a beautiful set of stairs that leads right down on to the beach for easy beach access. The beach is great for volleyball games, sunbathing, beach runs, etc. and the fishing guides will pull up and pick you up right on the sand in front your accommodations at Rancho and return you back at the end of the day of fishing, now that is service. There are up to 10 beautifully appointed rooms at Rancho to accommodate large groups, we like to visit with the entire family and have had up to 20 people staying there at one time. We like to pay a little extra for a personal chef for the group for the week. You can let the Chef know ahead of time what you would like for a menu and the Chef will not only do the shopping he or she will prepare fantastic meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as take care of all the dishes so you can truly relax with your friends and family. It is great to have our entire extended family down all together enjoying all the amenities available like tennis, great exercise facility, swimming, snorkeling, hiking, golf and world class fishing or reading a book relaxing under the palapa by the pool. We just booked our next trip down in June and that is all the family can talk about. June cannot get here fast enough!

A SPECIAL SPECIAL GIFT TO ANYONE THAT VISITS ! A LITTLE BIT OF HEAVEN RIGHT HERE ON EARTH !

Every year of the last four, our family of five has made Rancho de Costa our first choice in a vacation destination. These vacations have become cherished family memories. The accommodations are first class with your every need provided for. The first time I walked on property I felt that Rancho de Costa was a piece of heaven on earth! The layout of the resort if well thought out so that you have privacy when wanted and yet can come together with friends under the huge palapa, on the beach, or in the movie theatre. The staff anticipates your wants before you can and the amenities are endless.

For some time now I wanted to send a message regarding my wonderful experience when I came down to La Paz, what a fantastic place to vacation. After all my travels I found "Rancho de Costa" to be the most beautiful. Every time I look at the photos it reminds me of the magic it holds in every way.

I have had the pleasure of visiting the Bay of Dreams and staying at Rancho de Costa several times. What a truly remarkable place! The golf is exceptional, the fishing is unmatched, the view's are captivating (especially at sunrise), and the escape is real. The warm sun,and an ocean side lawn chair provide opportunity for truly peaceful relaxation and escape. The kind and hard working staff always provide my family and me with the most beautiful meals and excellent service. The peaceful serenity continues into the night hours as the darkened sky lets the stars glow brilliantly. What a remarkable getaway, I can not wait to return!

Since my retirement in 2002, I have been extremely fortunate to be able to travel to many warm weather vacation spots. Hawaii, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Fiji and Mainland Mexico, to name just a few. My favorite, by far, is Rancho de Costa.

I first visited Rancho de Costa in 2000 with a group of buddies on a fishing trip. Since that first experience, I have been back at least a half dozen times. The warm air, the beautiful scenery of the Gulf of Mexico, and the wonderful people make it such a special place. If it is world class fishing, bathing in warm salt water, sunbathing on the beach, golfing or just relaxing by the pool....this place is for you.
My last visit happened to be my wife’s 40th Birthday. We took six couples to Rancho de Costa and had a magical experience. Deep sea fishing, snorkeling, bonfires on the beach and evening kayaking excursions along the shore at happy hour blew everyone’s mind!

I give Rancho de Costa my highest recommendation.

Having had the good fortune of visiting Rancho De Costa the last 2 years, we can not say enough good about the experience. All the details of our trip where handled with proficiency. The lodging was comfortable and impecably clean. The staff was top notch from the chefs to the maids, everyone went out of their way to accomodate us.

Great weather and excellent scenery off the deck starts everyday, mixed in with excellent fishing in the bay directly out from the villa and a great golf course out the back. All of this combined to make for one of the best vacations that we have had the pleasure of experiencing. We look forward to our next trip hoping that nothing will change.

We stayed there a week and ....Wow! What a wonderful place! And not only the location, but all the folks who make it run so efficiently. If you don't like Rosario's cooking, you need to get a reality check on what good food tastes like! What she can do with the "catch of the day" is amazing, but I'd go back there just for her refried beans that always seem to be available with the home-made tortillas. Diego is constantly around to make sure all your needs are met. The facility is constantly being cleaned and made ready for your every use. The beach there is a quiet cove with plenty of beach "toys" to play with for both young and old. Do you want to fish? Pangas are readily available with knowledgeable captains. Or you can fish from the beach and rocks at the cove just past the last villa for huge roosterfish and pargo snapper. Wi-Fi and satellite tv are available so you don't miss anything from the States...unless you want to! All-in-all...the Rancho de Costa is a 10!

My family and I have been visiting Bahia de Los Suenos for over 10 years and it keeps getting better ! Rancho de Costa sits on one of the most picturesque pieces of property in all of Baja California. The sunrise each morning is breathtaking and the overall scenery is so tranquil and relaxing. The service and amenities are 5 Star !

We can't wait to return every Year

"A picture may be worth a thousand words, but when it comes to Rancho de Costa, you've got to see it to believe it! Our friends attempted to describe Bahia de los Suenos, and there are wonderful pictures on the website, but until we actually drove up to the villas, it was immediately apparent that what we'd heard and imagined only scratched the surface. As a family, we desperately needed a place to check-out of our crazy pace of life and reconnect. We heaved a collective sigh when we stepped out of the car at Rancho.

The Bay is absolutely stunning with its sharp contrast of desert and golf course, white sand and turquoise water. For the next 5 days we detoxed in 5-Star luxury, breathing in the warm ocean air, soaking in the sunshine, shoveling in the freshest of seafood and exhaling the stress and busyness we'd bottled up over the past year. We snorkled, fished, golfed, kayaked, played in the pool and lounged together under the massive palapa. Rancho is a destination resort that provided everything our family needed to recharge and reconnect--with plenty of activities whenever we felt like rolling out of the hammock. We can't wait to go back!"

My stay at Rancho de Costa was the best. Of all the places I have been in the world the sunrises at the bay are the best. The golf course is beatiful with spectacular views of the ocean, the bay, the desert and the moutains combined in a breath taking array. You have a mile of tranquil beach to walk. There are coral reafs to snorkel or dive. The sand is great for laying out or sports on the beach. This is one of the most beautiful place in the Baja or for that matter the whole world. I have been to Rancho de Costo five separate time and I look foreward to the next chance to enjoy the beauty of this great resort.

The accomadations are first class and each room decorated with individual flair of Zane Grey, John Wayne, John Stienbeck and Ernest Hemingway, Roosevelt and Reagan. The central palaypa will generate great conversation and menories of your stay at Rancho de Costa.

Our group rented Four Wheelers, snorkeled, picked up coral, swam, had massages,danced...everything except fish because of some high winds. If you need a vacation that includes shopping this might not be the place for you because of its remoteness, but other than that I cannot praise Rancho De Costa enough. It is perfect for reunions, weddings, large gatherings, etc.

“Fantastic secluded beach estate, great for large groups” Reviewed January 3, 2015 NEW

We recently returned from a stay at Rancho de Costa over the Christmas/New Year holiday break. It was a family reunion, so it was a large group of 20 people with several different family units. It was hard to find a place that could accommodate a large group like us with different needs, but this place was perfect. We had a large age range, from 5 to 85 years old. Everyone had a great time.

Rachno is actually two different houses/areas: Villa Marlin is the main area of several connected units with a total of 6 bedrooms. It also comes with a private pool/hottub and a great outdoor seating area to hang out and eat all your meals. About 100 yards away is Villa Langosta, a 4 bedroom house with private outdoor hottub. So, it's a total of 10 bedrooms with both properties. Most of the rooms have king or queen beds, but two of the rooms at Villa Langosta have several twin and full beds, perfect for the kids. Both houses have full kitchens.

Both properties are beach front and have lots of activity options. Literally just steps from a great calm beach, perfect for little ones. There is also a fantastic reef right there where you can snorkel. Very calm and safe. The place has paddle boards and kayaks to rent, as well as snorkeling gear if you don't have your own. The staff also arrange fishing (either small panga boats or larger sport fishing boats) that pick you up right on the beach. Nearby La Ventana is an area known for wind surfing and kite boarding and you can arrange rentals and lessons. There are horse stables nearby and our kids went horseback riding on the beach. There is a large gym and tennis court on the property, and the staff set up beach volleyball for us. We also borrowed a soccer ball and played a little match on the beach with the kids.

This place is secluded, which means it's also a little isolated. It's on Bahia de los Muertos (trying to re-brand as Bahia de los Suenos, for obvious reasons). It's about a 45 minute drive from La Paz and 2+ hours from San Jose del Cabo airport. Fly into La Paz if you can, but Cabo airport was cheaper and had more flights. Rancho de Costa can arrange van transportation ($200 each way) or you can rent a car (it's a safe drive during the day; at night there are hazards like possible cows on the highway and drunk drivers).

We thought the isolation was good as the beach was practically empty everyday. There is a small hotel next door and a few other private homes on the beach, but that's about it. We were a large group and had everything we needed there, so the isolation wasn't really an issue for us. We also used the chef services where they provide 3 meals a day plus all snacks and beverages. You just pay for the food and drink (plus 20% service charge) as well as for the chef services (for 20 people it was $400 per day). Well worth it and the food was great. They can make anything you want and ask you for your preferences, but we just told them to make great local Mexican food (and they delivered!). If you don't go with chef services, either make sure you ask them to buy your food/drink or stock up in Cabo or La Paz before you arrive. There is a small town of Los Planes about 10-15 minutes away that has a small grocery store, but it's no supermarket.

The staff at the estate is great. Very friendly and helpful. There is daily maid service and it seems like there is somewhere there around the clock to help with whatever you need. Having said that, this is not 5 star luxury service where they bring you drinks by the pool or on the beach and cater to all your personal needs. But, it's friendly Mexican help and they try to go out of their way to assist.

The place is owned by an American (Gary Wagner) who has been down in Baja for a long time. We never met him but he was apparently very accessible when we were planning the trip. Bottom line: this was a great family vacation if you're looking for quiet relaxing place and you don't mind the isolation. It's not for folks looking for a crazy Cabo trip with lots of people, restaurants and bars nearby. Highly recommended and we hope to return.

I have just returned from a  vacation at Rancho de Costa located in the Bahia de los Suenos near La  Paz, Mexico. This superb resort checks all the boxes for anyone  searching for the ultimate location to rest your body and nurture your  soul. The accommodations are well designed for comfort, beautifully  decorated and maintained daily at the highest level. There are a variety  of rooms to choose from with private baths and a selection of bed  configurations. Each sleeping area features access to a full kitchen and  patios with breathtaking views of the Sea of Cortez. A full gym with  state of the art equipment, large salt water swimming pool, movie  theater with a wide selection of movies and a huge gazebo constructed  from local materials are also available for guests.

The excellent facilities  overlook a large sandy beach accented with coconut palms and the deep  blue green waters of the magnificent Sea of Cortez. Everywhere you point  your camera you create a postcard suitable for framing. I took a  fishing trip with boat and guide arranged by the resort. The guide was  very knowledgeable of the waters and where various types of fish may be  found. They provide assistance and tackle for the novice fisherman or  the more accomplished may bring their own equipment and knowledge to  these superb fishing waters. I consider myself a novice to deep water  fishing but I caught fish which were cleaned and prepared for dinner by  the excellent resident Chef Johnny. They were delicious as was every meal  prepared by Chef Johnny and his excellent staff. You may choose to prepare your  own food but I highly recommend using the resort staff. You are here to  relax after all and believe me you do not want to miss the culinary  magic that the resort staff provides. And along with their  professionalism they are really nice people.

If fishing isn’t your thing  no worries. There are so many things to enjoy including all beach  activities, photography, relaxing your mind and body while having a cold  beverage in the gazebo next to the beautiful pool or just soaking in  the beauty that surrounds you. The resort can be used for business  meetings and weddings and the staff is well trained to provide the set  up and event management required to ensure a successful event.

Gary Wagner took a piece of  one of God’s greatest creations and turned it into a very special venue  for those looking for a unique and unforgettable vacation experience.  You will probably never forget your time at Rancho de Costa. I know that  it will always be one of my best memories. We were fortunate to have  Gary with us during the stay. He is such an incredible host making sure  we were comfortable and telling stories of the area’s history, his long  and arduous work in creating the resort and personal stories of the road  he has traveled in his life. It is a life well lived. His calm and  friendly demeanor mirrors the calm and relaxed atmosphere of the resort  he created. The staff is superb and happy and will make your stay  perfect. Gary accomplishes this by caring for his staff and treating  them with kindness and respect. It was great to see this and I wonder  why more leaders don’t understand this simple concept. Our employees are  our greatest asset and treating them with respect is not only the best  business strategy but also the best human strategy. It was such a  pleasure meeting Gary.

So in closing do yourself a favor and plan to spend some time at Gary’s Bay of Dreams.
